But during tough economic times, choosing to shell out a few extra thousand dollars per year on your child’s education is no easy decision.
The Burke family, of Topsfield, has seen both sides of the coin. Their oldest son, Collin, went through the Topsfield public school system while their two younger sons, Ryan and Sean, attended Austin Preparatory School in Reading.
“We are really a hybrid family,” said Paula Burke. “My husband went to Catholic schools all his life, but I went to public schools my entire life and graduated from Salem High School.”"
